The Vamana Avatar is the story of Lord Vishnu’s fifth incarnation, where he appeared as a small Brahmin boy to teach a powerful king the value of humility. King Bali, though generous, became proud of his strength and ruled all three worlds. To restore balance, Lord Vishnu took the form of Vamana and asked Bali for just three steps of land. Suddenly, Vamana grew into a giant form and covered the earth and heavens in two steps. With no space left for the third, Bali offered his own head. Pleased with his devotion, Vishnu blessed him and made him ruler of the underworld.
This tale, filled with magical transformations, devotion, and moral lessons, shows that pride must bow before truth, and true greatness lies in humility and generosity.
